ED: various conditions... assaults / trauma, paediatrics (OM, chest infections, impetigo etc), occasional acute medical emergencies (acute MI, seizures), chronic disease (Diabetes, CCF, COPD etc)
Hospital facilities:
- Ward - 15 beds (mixed)
- Emergency department (2 beds). No operating theatre.
- CXR (performed by nurses), ECG, USS machine (dr operated incl for obstetric use). No lab on site (bloods sent to Broome or Derby hence delay of 1-2 days for results)
Major duties:
Work as a DMO (district medical officer - cross between a GP and HMO/medical registrar)
Alternate daily between inpatient-wards / emergency AND GP style outpatient clinics (at FX hospital or surrounding communities... via plane or landcruiser)
Working hours:
- Mon - Fri 0800- 1700
- Oncall 1:3 after hours + sat / Sunday (rotating roster)
Accommodation:
House or flat near hospital provided. Car and petrol (400kms) provided.

2-4 doctors (usually 2 permanent GPs +- locum staff). Nursing staff live on site,

Flight via perth to broome. Small plane brooome to FX or hire car (4 hours)
Travel:
Able to travel around kimberleys in time off (Hall's creek, Bungle bungle, geike gorge , derby, broome etc)
